The easiest way
to find a mattress worth one million dollars is to dig in the trash of Tel
Aviv. That is where a kind daughter ignorantly, placed her aging mothers
mattress/piggy bank after buying her a brand new mattress. It was never
recovered.

The next best
thing is a $60,000 mattress. The swedish manufacturer, Hastens, has a higher
than high end mattresses. Unless one has an extra $59,000, and who does these
days, the mattress market is a slightly different field. Most mattresses will
not be constructed with individually selected, and permanently curled, horse
hair comfort battings, layered with cotton/wool battings and a choice of 20
fabric covers surrounding two or more innerspring layers.  A horse hair mattress would sound more
familiar to our first president than the 43rd, but a horses hairs are hollow
and that allows for more air circulation.
Who knew the same quality in a violin bow that allows for the sound to
resonate in a concert hall, allows for maximum air circulation, and air flow
regulates body temperature. The human body naturally perspires through the
night as the body cycles in and out of sleep phases. Allowing the air to move
about and evaporate that air will keep the body cool and the sleeper
comfortable.

In more moderately
priced mattresses, cotton, wool, silk, and any number of synthetic fibers can
also provide this air flow with varying degrees of success. The springs in
these mattresses will also look familiar. Hand placement and individual pockets
are nice, but most shoppers can't afford a personal chef let alone a personal
spring coiler.

Magniflex, an
Italian mattress company, has gone to a different level of luxury, they cover
their cutting edge, Memofoam mattress with a 24 Karat gold yarn cover. The gold
yarn is hypoallergenic, metal is not a very good environment for mold or dust
mites. If the budget doesn't allow for a $25,000 price tag then regular washing
of the sheets and a mattress cover can keep a mattress clean of dust and germs.

If one can't
spend more for a mattress than a car, don't despair. Following a manufacturers
guildelines should keep any mattress feeling good for years. The difference
between a Mazaradi and a Le Sabre might seem like the world, but if one is
upgrading from a Yugo anything will help one feel like a million dollars. Just
don't save those dollars in the mattress.
